Q. Does my computer require any special applications to support these online courses? A. The minimum requirement is a computer with Internet Explorer 6.0 or any version of the Firefox browser. Courses are best viewed at a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 (or higher). The great majority of PCs will require no additional software to play the courses. Occasionally, Adobe Flash or Java may have to be installed on your PC in order for the courses to run correctly. If you experience problems with any of the courses, the first step is to download these free programs. They can be downloaded from: Click here to download Java (click the "Free Java Download" button to install) Click here to download Adobe Flash (click the "Install Now" button) If you are still having problems, check the status bar at the bottom of the browser for a yield sign icon or a red not allowed icon (often with roll-over words indicating add-ins). Click on either of these to see if a list of active applications pops up. If so, make sure both Java and Flash applications are selected to be active. You will hear sound in the course if your computer supports audio and speakers are attached and turned on. Sound is not required to complete the courses. |
